Looking for feedback on Orlando FL trails

Hi, I'm planning a vacation to Orlando at Christmas time, and was looking for some helpful feedback on the two nearby trails I've found and what the conditions might be like.

I'm thinking that we will take the Gen. James A. Van Fleet State Trail one day and the West Orange Trail another. Are these good trails, well represented by their websites? Are there better ones we should consider? We are looking for 15+ mile trails. Are they paved the whole way?

What should we prepare for weather wise: 60 degree highs around Christmas? I know weather can be a funny thing to predict, but am just looking for any suggestions folks might offer.

    Thanks!

I've done the West Orange once....just to check it out. I really liked it, but I rode it on a Monday morning with few people on the trail. The website (comments from users) said it can be VERY crowded on weekends (FYI - but maybe only "die hards" in December).

Temperature wise.....CrimsonEclipse is right....Winter can easily go up and down at any given week. It could be anywhere between 50 and 80 I'd say.....likely temps at Christmas time - probably high 60's (give or take 25 degrees).

I rode the West Orange many times and loved it. It was long enough to make the trip (from Cape Canaveral) worth it.

I've also ridden the Van Fleet ... once. It is more rural and has very basic facilities. The only thing is ... it's one long straight trail. It hardly ever deviates from a straight line. It's a good mental challenge that's for sure. If you are into nature and being way out in the wild, it's great. The trail itself was in good condition but it bored me to death. The only view I had was the trail disappearing into infinity. A few minutes later ... you look up and see the same view. The only clue you are actually moving is the tenth mile tick marks on the trail.

At least on the West Orange you get to turn left and right every so often.

Ok, so Van Fleet is booring? I wondered about that, but on the map it looks like it goes around a lake, so I didn't know if maybe there were some nice views...

Any other suggestions for nearby trails? We'll be staying somewhere around the "Attractions" so we could go East just as easily as West. All I saw were short trails, but I'd be interested in hearing about people's favorite rides...

The Withlocoochee Trail is excellent and within an hour or so drive. 46 miles long. Start in Inverness and ride 30 up and back or 62 down and back.
