Who raced this year?
Racing isn't for everyone, but I'm curious just who raced, what kind of race and what they think of racing, in general. Tell us about your past races.
I raced 3 crits, a road race, and 3 XCs so far this season. I have 2 XC races scheduled before snow flies.
Racing is my main cycling motivator, and worry that I may give up cycling if I ceased racing. Probably not, but I wonder about it.

well, didn't get in a lot of racing this year, just 3 races that fall into XC: actually only 1 real XC and the other 2 were what are called "MTB Marathons" here in Europe which are longer (60-120km or 38-75miles) XC-style races with LOTS of climbing (1500-3000m vertical) but (unfortunately) not a whole lot of technical stuff...
i wanted to do a Criterium but couldn't find many close to me here in Munich... (the Euro crit-scene is not a big as the States)
next year i'm considering doing the Trans-Alp Challenge which is an 8-stage, 19000m of vertical climbing XC race across the Alps (i did an 8-day 15000m tour 2 weeks ago)

I'll bet I race more than anyone here. I have an all out 5 mile sprint to work every morning. I should really wake up earlier.

Lets see *looking at log*
13 criteriums
12 track races
4 time trials
3 road races
This year included a pretty large amount of racing missing (especially TT, and road races). I concentrated a little bit more on track training and racing (which can be explained by the criteriums and track races). Hopefully, next year I'll be able to even it out a little more.

tandem(road)--one crit. one "mass start timed event".
xc--4 so far. at least two more on my calendar.
no cross(yet) for the calendar year. i'll do at least one or two in the fall.
coupla multi-sport events(both on road and off)
one 12-hour mtb race.
not bad for someone who's "given up racing".

Nope. I just started riding in May. Not enough experience or fitness to bother. Besides everyone out here is awesome there aren't too many amateurs ...
Next year I plan to enter the Test Of Metal which is 76k of mountain biking. I plan to finish

Still building base miles during first year of cycling at 51 years old. Probably will never race, though I may do some group or charity rides. My goal is to do my first century, organized or otherwise during 2003.

This season was stricly dh. Started at the Sea Otter and will be finishing up at the Fall Classic in Oct. So the total number of races will be 9. Next year I will also race xc, super-d (it is like a dh but they add hills so you need to pedal up the hills so can not rely just on gravity) and I also want to try my legs at a road race or two.

Did my first ever MTB race this summer. Only took 5th place but it was fun anyway. Hope to enter more next summer.
