Hi everyone, you may be wondering what is going on lately with the site... there are actualy a few things. First off, you may wonder why you get a redirection link on bikeforums.com, about a month ago, the forums out-grew the shared server they were on, so i purchased a dedicated server for the forums, sadly, i registered the domain under an email address that i no longer have access to, and Network Solutions Inc, the people who manage domains will not let me transfer my domain to the new server. Im currently running the site the server IP, however you can connect to the site via BikeForums.Net. Im hoping to have the bikeforums.com domain resolving to my new server within a week or so.

As you may remember, I wanted to add a few sub-forums to the site, inclucing a Rant and Jokes forum. I still plan on doing this, but not untill the forum software is out of beta stage, I expect this to happen within a few weeks. I also have plans on adding a few new features, like instant smileys and vB code, but this too will wait for the software to come out of beta stage.

Lastly, as alot of you know, i am working on co-branding the forums out to other cycling sites on the internet, this too will happen once i get the full version of the forum software. I also need to find out how to make a bit of money to pay for the server this site runs on, currently i make an amazing $30 a month with the links at the top of each page (performance bike & rei links). Sadly, the server is costing me ~$200 a month. Im working on setting up a search form that will search the internet or the forums, that pays me $.06 per internet search, i think this should cover the hosting costs once i have co-branding up and running.

I know i said most of these things would be up and running by May 1st, but it does not look like i can meet that goal, the software development is out of my hands, im sure you all know how that goes.

If ya have any questions, feel free to ask..

Hang in there Joe. It may take a little longer but everything will workout. I am a computer consultant, systems developer and am fully aware of the requirement and dealing with vendors and such.

Your work is much appreciated!!!!

Joe, from what I've seen you're doing one great job. I sympathize with you over the elements out of your hands--like that email address problem. In a smaller but really annoying way, I've had that happen, too: it's surprising how many oversights there are in Internet administration, things nobody seems to have thought of, and nobody knows how to fix!

I've received so much help from this forum, directly and indirectly: it's one of only three I've found in my Web travels that combines pertinent information, humor, and astonishing civility. When I get tired of banging my head against the real world, I can run to one of my three treasured forums and join the grownups for awhile!

Best wishes for getting it all sorted out!

No complaints here, Joe. I like what you've done so far and as far as I'm concerned everything else
will be gravy. (But not from Carl's!)
