How good are SUMMIT's trike?
 

To All:

I have been eyeing a SUMMIT (24" wheel) tricycle at Walt's cycle & fitness, i.e.,

I also been eyeing the WORKSMAN adult-lite (Eagle Tricycle EAG-3CB) as in

The difference is, for SUMMIT's trike, I can just pick it up (assuming Walt's has it in stock),
while with WORKSMAN's trike, I would need to special order, and pay for shipping, rear
fenders and assembly. [I will be draggin a 4-wheels walker, so I'll need rear fenders)

These two trikes because the rear wheel gap is big enough (walker is 22" wide) and light
enough (< 40 lbs or so).

What can you people say about the quality between a SUMMIT"s and WORKSMAN's?
Bottom line: is it worth spending a few hundreds more for a WORKSMAN?

Any other comments?

You may want to get the weights of each bike. It is my understanding that Worksman designs its bikes for factory environments. Extra heavy duty tubes and components. Last a thousand years, but weigh a ton. If you are going to just do recreational riding, there is no need to have the extra heft. Of course, if you plan to carry 500 pounds of cargo, THAT is exactly what a Worksman is designed to do.

I think that you're doing the right thing. Try to find somebody who actually has one and rides it. I've had very limited experience with adult trikes, but my very limited experience hasn't been good. Two different brands that I've worked with both had rear axle bearing problems and long term nightmeres obtaining repair parts.

Worksman are designed and built tough 'tis true. However, the Eagle light is more of a "heavy duty"
consumer trike built for a lot less stress than the factory version. They "might" haul 500 pound but
the "Mover" model Worksman trike will and more!! In this riders case that exra weight is very
good in that it adds ride and stability that few upright trikes have.

The Summit is Chinese trike of unknown quality and parts availablity. Worksman are made in N.Y.C.,
N.Y. And will be around for a while longer as they focus on what they do best............work bikes!
