Can bike shops do this?
Lets say a bike store shows the "brands we carry" whereever(internet,store...), and they didnt carry one that I wanted. Can they still order that bike even if they dont "carry it"?

WHAT??!?!? No, not with my bike store. If I want something they will get it for me. If I can find it online they can get it, but I have droped a lot of money there. They know I am car-free and my bike is my life, like most of them. Just ask!

If a particular bike brand doesn't have any dealer contracts within a geographic area, most any bike dealer can often get you one. That probably won't work for the mega brands like Trek, Giant and Specialized. Sometimes it's possible for a bike dealer to buy a bike from a competing local dealer but that's probably only going to work under some kind of unusual situation.

It also depends on what importers they can work with to get European stuff.

Ask them. There are bikes we don't carry but can get. As someone else pointed out, maybe not some of the bigger names, but some, like Kona for instance, we can get though we don't stock them.

None of the local shops here stocked DK bikes when I was looking for one last year, although I did get lucky and find a used DK for sale at one, and bought it.
I guess unless you can order it online or find a local shop that carrys that brand, you're out of luck..

I know that at Calfee we will sell through any shop as long as it isn't too close to one of our exclusive-stocking dealers.
