Homemade Bike Rack

heyas all,

I am new to the forums here and new to biking in general. I live in the smoky mountains of Tennessee and I am looking forward to riding some of the "novice" trails up here.

My question is I am looking for ideas on perhaps making a Homemade bike rack for a small pickup truck. I am looking to make one that fits in the bed of the pickup and can hold 2 bikes. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Sav

you just need a couple of these, or something similar (lots of different options out there), and a 2x4.

there are locking versions available, too.

I made one of these out of PVC and love it. Spent less than 30 minutes and $20. Just make sure you can bungee it to the bed of your truck in some way.

Another vote for this DIY. I made one up last spring, little bit of modding to accept both road and mtb. Works great.

I also made this rack last summer, its a fun build, however, the cost of materials i found were more expensive than estimated. The lengths of pipe were relatively cheap, but its the elbow joints and the T-joints that really cost the most. My 3-bike system fits in the back of my 94 F-150 with lots of room to spare, i couldve even made a 4-bike system, but that wouldve jsut added to the cost.
