How do I know if I bought the right bike size?

When I put the frame below me and I wear my bike shoes I can barely lift it 1 inch.

The seat was placed by my LBS that did a few measurements with me off and on the bike.

I was told that the seat looks too low. How can I be sure that my LBS did a good job?

You sound like me. On my squishy I have 1 inch but it has a high BB for clearance. When I am actually riding and sitting on my bike, I feel just right. Not too tall, I can control the bike wonderfully. It's just the off-the-bike clearance that is a concern for me. My LBS justified it with the high BB, though.

Oh, and I can't see the pic. Can you re-post pic, please?

Are you having difficulty mounting or riding this bike?? If not then it's probably OK.

However, Stand flat footed over the top tube to see if you can get three fingers between the tube
an your crotch (not your pants). If three fingers it's usually OK , if two fingers it's maginal,
if one finger it's the wrong bike for you.....the frame is to tall.

One inch clearance for a road bike is fine. According to this article poted below, the fit for a cyclocross should start with a road bike fit. Maybe it will answer your questions.

The article says seat should be lower than a road bike, but not that much. On a road bike, the starting point for seat height is your heel on pedal with a straight knee. Adjustments are made to your tastes and riding techniques.
