San Diego Bike Rental.
So in a couple of weeks I am going to be making my way out to San Diego for a little RR. I am not really keen on the idea of packing up one of my bikes just for the trip, so I would rather like to find some place where I could rent bikes for a day or two. My plan is to take a little ride down to Tijuana, probably cliche, but I figure it would be a nice way to pass the afternoon.
Here are my questions, 1) Anyone know of a place the rents bikes in that area? I obviously would prefer a skinny tire bike, but anything that wasn't produce by Pacific will probably be ok. I am going to be riding with someone else who won't be that eager to race along. 2) Is there a trail that will take me to Tijuana without requiring a large amount of busy road riding? Is there a trail that would get us most of the way there? OK well thanks in advance for any advice you can give me. |
Hi goatmeal,
There are a few shops that rent bikes in Mission Beach. I'm not sure of the quality of the bikes. You might also try Ye Old Bicycle Shop for a higher quality bike. Frankly, I'm not sure they rent their old bikes, but I bet they would consider it. Also take a look at http://efgh.com/bike/routes.htm for some local routes. Have fun. |
Thanks for the tips, I hopefully I will be able to figure something out. Even if I end up riding a crappy bike, it should be a fun time regardless. After all I would still be on a bike right?

Check with Trek San Diego, http://treksandiego.com/site/intro.cfm, they seem like the might do something like that.
I met a guy who was on a nice Felt rental a year or so ago. CA Bikes http://www.calbike.com/rentals/index.html carries them. They might be a good shop to check with. Hi-Tech bikes in Mission Valley might be able to help. I do assume you are looking for a decent bike, not just a cruiser. If you want a cruiser, come to PB/Mission Beach. Lots of them here. |
