If you all leave me the hell alone, maybe I could get a ride in!
Well, it's Sunday morning, and here I am in front of my damned computer with a cup of joe. Reading threads and posts about this wonderful sport of cycling, and all of your accounts, concerns, irritations, and recollections. As I look outside, I see an absolutely gorgeous day unfolding before me, through me closed window of course, and realize that I want to be on the other side of the glass today! So, I'm writing to let you all know where I'll be for the next 4 or 5 hours... I'm headed to the Soquel Demonstration Forest in Santa Cruz, Ca. to attack the Braille Trail and the Tractor Trail. I will be riding technical singletrack, man made obstacles, and death defying rollercoaster-like descents. All of this, while overlooking the Pacific Ocean and popping in and out of serene forest canopy... So, there! You guys suck! I'm going riding! Don't try to stop me with some curious thread title... I've fallen for that trick before! Not today wannabe riders, I will not be contained...

Man I really have to plan a trip to CA for some biking this year. I won't be able to bike in a week or so (I don't like snow biking). I will be stuck on the trainer looking mindlessly at TV while I try to dream of speeding down a mountainside doing drops and riding ladders :/
California is 11 hours or so away...I really need a long weekend.

Aaahhhhh....
I needed that! I LOVE the Soquel Demo Forest! All the climbing is on fire road, but all (and I do mean all) the descending is on very narrow technical singletrack that weaves in and out and under and over standing and fallen redwood trees. Today, I brought my camera and flash and got some great shots of the locals rippin' up the trails. My rig weighs about 8 pounds, so it slows me down a bit, but when I'm looking at the images later on I can never remember having lugged the extra weight around! I had some riders ask how to get copies of the prints, and had never really thought about it before, but have a good idea now... I think I'll start shooting all sorts of locals and then give them all my card, this could prove lucrative for my portfolio and my wallet. Only problem is that I shoot slide film so prints are a little pricey... like $20 for an 8x10 at cost! I'll figure something out! It was great being outdoors today, 70 degrees and sunny... I even bagged a couple shots of some (dare I say it?) ROADIES!
I feel bad now that I've read your posts and heard of your weather... You have to make your way out to my neck of the woods, (probably have another month or so of dry weather). It might be worth it for one nice long weekend...
In conclusion, I'd like to thank you all for leaving me the hell alone! I was able to actually ride my bike instead of simply talking about riding my bike, which I have done now for almost 10 minutes (my we fall back into our old ways quickly...)
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! A great ride can be (almost) as satisfying as sex! I go now to masturbate...
Your stress free and fully topped off buddy,
Mike

Every lane is a bike lane
All right then, go on, f**k off and ride. See if we care.

You don't a long weekend. Just an hour and half and travel a little south to Vancouver along the sea to sky. Lots to ride around here. It's sunny and warm. Long range forecast is for more sun. Come on down.
