I just want you cyclists to know that you are having an effect on those around you.
For a long time now, my 16 year-old stepson has spent the last 15 minutes of his evenings (as he is at this very moment) doing floor exercises while I pound away at the keyboard. He is much taller than I, and overweight.
Apparently, demonstration is more powerful than lecture.
Peace.

Good for him, Pete.
Whatever he's doing, if it's physical, deserves encouragement, and it's going to do him some good.
Once he sees some results, it will motivate him to do more and more, with even greater results.
Have you got him on a bike yet? Not to discourage him by being too pushy, of course.

I hope he's interested in some sort of sport. It makes it easier to have fun and exercise while losing weight! I myself feel guilty typing on the keyboard right now...

Well I look at it this way :I am a guitar player and tapping on the pc keyboard helps keep my digits in shape for playing the guitar and vice-versa.!!! too easy... and if I have a brewski next to me theres a good workout for the elbow..and If I drink enuff theres a walk to the bathroom and return...hey this is pretty freakin' cool ...ahem,... of course I am only joking........
