Peleton Project/Ride For The Roses

Has anyone on here joined the Peleton Project and/or rode in the RFTR?? I've been thinking about doing it in 2003 and just wondered if anyone could share their experiences. I think it's a good cause and all but is it really worth a trip to TX? I do think it would be something a person would never forget. I'm not that great of a rider or in that great a shape right now but I think I could be in shape enough by next fall.

Our friend Lotek has done RFTR a few times, he lives in TX. Ask him!

Dragracer,

Didn't do Peloton Project, but did R4R past 2 years and
doing it again this year (oct this time, not april).
Is it worthwhile? yeah,
Is it inspiring ? maybe more than anything I've done
concerning cycling.
PM or Email me.

Lotek, I heard they're moving R4R to october so it won't conflict with various races. Good idea! So it won't be until Oct 2003?

Wabbit,

Yup, this way Lance doesn't have to Jet to Austin for
the weekend and interupt training, etc. Maybe do more
early spring classics?

Trekaholic,
Don't know about Houston but I'd rather ride some of the
roads up in Misery than fight the SUVs here.
Give me a country road anyday.

Hey, maybe we could have a B.F. contingent at
R4R?

I saw on cyclingnews.com that Lance is going to do the Dirty Duathlon (Running and MTB) in Texas next month, so it's another chance to race against lance! I don't think he does it to win really, it's for charity. I'd do it if I was a better runner- and lived in TX!

He got beat by a local guy on a single speed last year.

Lance also regularly goes out on training rides
with local clubs (I think U.T club? ) around
the Austin Area. When it comes to normal around the area
biking, I don't get the feeling that he takes the
"4 time Tour De France Winner" thing
too seriously.

well, this was a long time ago, but Lance used to come ride with us (UT cycling team) when i was there in riding in '89-91 (i was there thru '94 but my bike got stolen summer '91, i had to work, etc. etc.) and he was on 2 rides that i was also on although i didn't speak with him personally and i got dropped at the end... i was just starting in cycling and was one of the weaker riders in the club. it was before he was really famous, but being in the cycling scene we knew who he was...

Hahah... that can go down in the "My most embarrassing moment" discussion. I think LA came in 6th in last year's DD. Love the trek MTB. Hey if it's good enough for Roland Green...
