Windy As a MOFO But I Saw A Lot of Riders

Just got back from a 28 mile ride, it was windy as hell -- one of those days when it seemed like I got a headwind no matter the direction. I did a whopping 13.5 MPH average. Toward the end, I couldn't keep up with a geezer riding a decrepit old X-Mart mountain bike. I don't know about any of you, but the wind wears me down fast.

On the plus side, I was very encouraged to see a lot of bike riders out today. It was a good mix also -- kids, teens, geezers as well as the florescent neon crowd. Maybe people are starting to wise up and are turning off the TV and X-box and getting some exercise.

Hate those change of wind direction. I ride offroad and we get out every sunday, aswell as night rides in the week and we have yet to see many riders out on the hills for the last 3 months. Not so much the wind but it has been very cold for the last 3 months. We have a drought over here but just a little rain in the week is making the trails slippery. Don't knock the Geezers on old bikes. They have had more years to build up the stamina and body than most, and that old bike is probably well sorted.

Everytime that roaming wind thing happens I get this image of some higher being looking down on me riding (kind of Clash of the Titans like) and running around and blowing against me no matter where I turn saying, "well....you said God ****it...so I am!"

Sunday's ride we ran across 3 groups of lycra warriors. Even got stopped by an Escalade who yelled out that we needed to get off the road because we were going too slow. Turned out to be a fellow member of the bicycle cult giving us a hard time.

It's refreshing when it turns out that you know somebody who is giving you a hard time! That's about the only time that I'm abusive in return.
