Boo Hoo...I drove into work today...

in my car. In Atlanta, it's 60 degrees, no wind, low humidity basically a great day to be out riding your bike. But, I have to work.

I must have passed 30 cyclists or so as I drove in to the city. Saw several more with their bikes loaded on their racks headed to their favorite ride location.

The silver lining in the cloud is I don't have to work Monday - Wednesday.

So why couldn't you ride in to work?

Think we are now almost living my dream. Towards a semi -car free life style. We now have one car and my wife gets it first. Since she now is the primary bread winner.... We live in such a small town have to even commute by bike to local public tranist center to use public transit. I now have to use a bike if I am to get about. Plans for another bike maybe. Another car. Naw.

I work a 12-hour shift. From 1200noon to 12 midnight. It's a one-man operation on the weekends. So, to answer your question sometimes on the long 12-hr day I don't feel like the 14 mile trek to where I live. Which also means riding at night through some sketchy neighborhoods in SW Atlanta.

I am looking to move in a different area of the city to facilitate my weekend commuting.

You need a night shift. I work 7pm-330am and absolutely love the time I have during the day to ride my bike.

I love riding home at midnight. It's cool and so quiet and there's no traffic. Mind you it's only 5 miles and Toronto may be safer than Atlanta. My scariest moment was when I almost hit the skunk.
