bartape, bullhorns, and reverse levers
So the set of reverse levers I got in the mail yesterday barely fit into the ends of my bullhorns. There's no room to fold in a bit of the bartape so I'm going to have to start it on the outside of the bar (does that make sense?).
How do I start it so that the tape doesn't eventually slip down the bar? There's no adhesive backing on the tape.

Use double sided tape first. You don't need to do it solid. Just half covered, tape then a tape width without tape.

Electrician's tape, sticky side out, will also work. Just give it a couple of turns against itself first.

I too am putting bullhorns with reverse brakes on my 7.5fx. Do you have any pictures of your project?

I started at the center and wrapped toward the brake levers on my Trek single speed. I wrapped them twice because they're 7/8" mountain bars. The tape is Bontrager gel. I finished it off with electrical tape next to the levers. The Profile Design levers are nice, but they require internal cable routing. I had to drill the bars, which probably isn't a good idea. I had Dia Compe reverse levers on it for a while. They don't use internal routing. They looked and felt cheap, and I like the bike too much to leave them on it.

I'm going to install Cane Creek TT brake levers on the ends of my Syntace 200 Bullhorns. Don't know what to do about the shifters yet.
I've never cared for the "flat bar" design on hybrids because there aren't too many hand positions. This way I'll just cork tape the whole bar and won't feel restricted to one spot. I ride long and far on my 7.5fx and I'm really not ready for a road bike just yet so I'll make due with whatever I have.

I love my Syntace Bullhorns and Crane Creek levers!
The ride is set up stripped and ready to rip.
