Hello,
I'm brand new to this forum (hello everyone!) and have a question that might seem very simple to many of you. I have a Cannondale Bad Boy, and just got a Kryptonite New York lock. Problem is, I can't figure out how to attach the lock to the bike frame, which is a size L. It doesn't seem to fit in any of the ways in the diagram, and if it fits, there's not enough room to take out the actual lock. The only way it will fit is around the very top bar, but there are the gear and brake cables under there. What would you all suggest? Is it okay to attach it even though the cables are there? Sorry if this question seems dumb. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Does it come with a mounting bracket? Also, if you commute frequently to the same location, you can leave your lock on the rack or pole and then bring a key every day.

Thanks, it does come with a mounting bracket, but the problem is that I can't figure out where on the bike I should put the bracket. Do people generally just carry them in a backpack or something? Your idea of leaving it on the bike rack is a good one, normally I'll be going to and from work.

Ah. I'm pretty sure the mounting bracket goes onto the seatpost. It's probably not too good of an idea to mount it on the top tube with the cables and all.

Yeah, try putting the bracket on the seatpost. I find that I can lock a U-lock around the top tube/seat stays on some bikes, and it will stay in place. Just experiment with how you lace it through. If worse comes to worse, and you need to carry the lock on the bike, you can try the Lock Blocks from Twofish positioned as displayed in the pictures.

This is how a Kryptonite lock fits in my 57cm road bike, but there's probably a bit less room in your main triangle. It might have to overlap the downtube slightly. I have also seen some mounted sideways on the downtube pointed backwards, but I wonder if your leg would rub against it.
