Bar End Shofters on MTB gears

I'm really sorry if this is a bit redundant but I tried searching the forums and good ol google with no luck.

Basically, I want to use Ultegra 8-speed bar end shifters on my 7 speed bicycle with what I am assuming are MTB gears. Harris Cyclery's website says I should not have any problem with 7-speeds and I am using Rivendell Albatross handlebar that fits into MTB clamps(25.4). The handlebar accepts bar end shifters. I just have no idea if this will be compatible with my SIS 7 speed rear X 3 speed for the front ones. The specs for my gears(more or less) can be found here: https://www.epinions.com/bike-Bicycle...ay_~full_specs

tia to those who can help me! Much appreciated.

Bikes: Catrike 559 I own some others but they don't get ridden very much.

Not to worry. The front bar con shifter isn't even indexed so it'll work perfectly. The rear will work, but 7 and 8 speed gear spacing is a hair off so the shifting in index the mode might be a little bit funky.

Buy an 8 speed rear freewheel or cassette for about $20. Then the Ultegra Bar-Cons will work perfectly, if you use the friction option for the front.
