Thanks oilfreeandhappy!

Just wanted to thank oilfreeandhappy publicly for the t-shirts I purchased from him. I bought them Thursday & had them on my door step Saturday! Just thought I'd post this here for those that may have checked his site out but were unsure about buying. We support our LBS', so let's support our forum members as well. Anyway, thanks again oilfreeandhappy.

No disrespect but, lets say you have a Doctors appointment and you may have the flu or you partner is sick and you wanted to go to the Dr. with he/she? Groceries? Appointments?, work?

This is just one example of why (flamesuit on), unless you live in a city and have no kids, living car-free isn't the greatest solution.

The "Oil Free and Happy" doesn't mean you have to be 100% oil free. It's more of a concept. When you walk rather than drive down to you local movie or grocery, you are oil free. When you choose to take a walk to enjoy the country side rather than cruise through on a motor drive, you are oil free during that time.

I especially like the "Oil Free & Happy" concept, so much so that we've bought patches to give customers at our Santa Fe store.

The patches are very high quality.

I'm happy to see them getting some attention on this bike forum.

Zealots can never find a functional compromise.

Yeah, they can. It's called being realistic rather than idealistic.

Sure, I bought an SUV....but it's a dinky one (Ford Escape) that gets decent gas mileage. Unfortunately the hybrid model isn't powerful enough to tow much of anything, as we have a small travel trailer that weighs 3,000 pounds. Doesn't cost any more to fill up the Escape than it does my car (Jetta GLI 1.8T).

From April to October last year, I commuted to work via my motorcycle - 55 mpg, and a 70 mile roundtrip commute. Saved an assload of money versus my car, which gets around 30 mpg, but requires 93 octane....bike requires 87.

If there were jobs in this area that paid anything that I could live on, I'd most definitely get a job where I could bike commute and not have to drive. I hate driving 30, 50, 100 miles (or more) to work.

Then they're not zealots, they're advocates.

I've got to hit the road this summer for work, I've been moved from a plant production engineer to a project engineer. Sucks cause I won't be able to cycle to work, although I'm hoping they'll send me to the work location which sits along the NYS barge canal. That would make for some awesome evening rides.

Filled up the GLI today. $3/gallon. WTF.

Being out of work does have its' benefits though - don't have to drive much .
