it is cool but for that amount you can buy a gps unit that has a screen and maps and current information(speed ,distance, avg. ) and you dont have to wait till you get home

GPS has come along way, lot of my professor's have been using it for a long time, and back when they first started to, getting GPS points meant carry a large amoutn of equipment (i've seen pictures of them using it), just to get static points. This does more and can attach to your key chain, I think its definitly cool.
