Front wheel locked up?

A jogger found me laying on the bike path in Austin Tx and called an ambulance, when I came to they were trying to put me on a stretcher. I didn't want to go to the emerg. room but the EMT said he could see the bone in the cut on my cheek. Two hours and 10 stitches later I walk out. Picked up my bike at the nearest fire station to where they found me and near as I can figure the front wheel got jammed on something, two loose spokes and a couple of marks on the rim. I tightened the spokes and that trued up the wheel, my aero brake levers are scratched on the front and my seat is scratched on the top.
I don't remember a thing right before or after it happened. Of course my newly purchase helmet was in my car. The doctor said no riding for a week because I had a mild concusion but I think a short ride tomorrow may be in order. Could have been a lot worse I guess!

Thanks for the reminder, impala. I've drifted into the habit of only wearing the helmet when I'm out playing in traffic.

I bent a fork once and went over. It was slight but enough to tighten the brake cable.

I was on my 83 500, I haven't been back to the site yet. I am not exactly sure were I was
the EMT said there was good sized pool of blood so should be easy to find.
Will check the fork for damage today.

Jeez! I'm glad you're ok! Let us know if you discover the cause of the lock-up.

I have ridden past the site twice and can't find any evidence of what might have jammed my wheel. I guess I will never know. I am a little hesitant on the bike but sure my confidence will return. I am wearing my helmet now!
I am healing up, my daughter counted 20 stitches in all on my face, I still look like I was in a fight and lost.

Ooh, sorry to hear that. Hope you're okay.
I hate those accidents where you can't remember a thing.

Ouchy!!

One time i was in france i wipedout and dont remember a thing eather. (with a non-face helmet)
- We where wacking down a bit of hill, on the road, on the way back to where we where staying. Doing about 25/30mph ish. (i remember look at my speedo)
- Then next thing i know, im back in the kitchen of the place we where staying, covered in blood, and surounded by people!

Apprently when the got to be 30secs later i was "dazed", but said i was fine, got up, and cycled the 4/5mins we had left back to the house, and into the kitchen where i was sat down, Crasy!
- I had such a big bruse on my leg i couldnt hardly walk for almost the whole of the rest of the week, and my stomach musles where that sore i couldnt even sit up. Stick have the scares and the riped Tshirt now!

To this day i dont know what happend! Did i fall off, then pass out. If so, how/why did i fall off on a stright and flat road with noone close to me?
- Or did i pass out while riding, then fall off becuase of that? Which would be a little scary. But it was scorching hot, and i was a little short of fluids at the time. Worrying really.
