Helmet and bib question

I'm going to buy a helmet for my road bike and noticed that Specialized is one of the few manufacturers that submit their helmets for Snell testing. Did the Snell certification sway you to purchase a Specialized helmet over a Giro or Bell? For those that have an Aurora or Decibel, how do you like it?

I've never worn bibs before, but tried on a pair of Pearl Izumi Quest Bib shorts yesterday after reading positive comments about them on the forum. Overall the medium bibs fit well though I did have one of those "well that's interesting" moments when I felt the chamois under groin area. The chamois felt large, but that could be me getting used to padded shorts. Is the padding adjustable and your male parts hang out in front?

Thanks

I do not know the Helmet rules in the US, or the UK for that matter- but Snell is only one test- There are others that are just as good and will lead to a safe helmet.
Many years ago I was in motor racing and the Snell foundation sticker was one that was not recognised by the UK race authorities. It had to be one of the recognised UK tests- some of which were not Based in the UK.

What sways me on a helmet is that it has passed one of the recognised tests- but the main thing is Fit. -Never found a Bell helmet that I liked for fit. One of my ride partners always uses Bell because of the name. I always used Giro because that was the first proper helmet I bought- but recently changed to MET helmets purely on Comfort.
