Depends on the Ride length. If out for only a couple of hours, then a breakfast of some description will suffice. If out for a 4 hour- then anything that is Carbo- hrdrate as a snack during the ride will assist. Cereal bars- Dried fruit- even a sandwich. Now if you about to do that special long ride or you mean to hammer it--Then start carbo loading a week before- Plenty of pasta- rice- bread- potatoes etc will build up the Carbo hydrates in the body and will last for a few hours into the ride.
Best out of the lot is to do a good thrash to a Cafe- Have breakfast there and a steady ride home.
