Is Anybody having problems with Internet Explorer

My Internet Explorer keeps crashing everytime I'm in Bikeforums for a while. After clicking on several threads my browser dies. Is anybody else having this problem? It only happens when I'm in BikeForums.

Just curious if anybody else is also experiencing the same thing. I'm not sure what version of Explorer I have.

Hmm, i havent had any reports of IE crashing on the forums. Click on Help, then About IE to find what version you are running, I'll look into it.

I use IE 5.5 and usually use a utility called LinkFox to load the threads I want to look at into a cache, and then I open each one in a separate window. I have had up to 15 windows open at a time with no problems--usually. Same goes for when I just use the browser itself to open each thread in a separate window.

I have 64 MB RAM which I guess is considered piffling by today's inflated standards. Usually I have no browser problems whatever. ISP problems are a different story. Plenty of those, with local ISP that I'm dropping next month. Using Prodigy, I have far fewer problems.

Is it possible, Joe, that your problem could be ISP-related?

I'm using version 5 of Explorer. It's not my ISP since this is occuring while at work. I dont think Tech support, or my boss for that matter , would really appreciated if I opened a trouble ticket for this.

It started happening after the new version of Bikeforums came out. It may be a bug with version 5 of Explorer. I use an older version at home and have no problems.

Interesting -

Netscape Navigator (4.6.1 running on NT) has locked up twice on me today after visiting Bike Forums. I.E. is working fine.

My exact version of IE is 5.50.4134.0600. I think it's about a year old. I have had less trouble with it than with any browser I've used so far, which includes various versions of IE, Netscape, and Opera. I don't think the bike forums has ever seemed to cause the browser to crash on me--the few times my browser has ever crashed, it was probably due to running Windows 98 too long without rebooting--it's known to malfunction if you don't reboot now and then. Gets all confused.

Joe, I'm using IE 6 on Win2k and have never had a problem with it locking up. Wouldn't think a newer version would be a problem.

Joe and all, I have discovered that something has changed in the last two days that may cause this trouble. Although my browser is doing OK, the LinkFox browsing utility I use, is behaving different. Normally it downloads a linked page, stores it in the cache, and shows the name of the page and a checkmark to indicate it's ready for viewing now.

Since Friday sometime, on Bike Forums only, it's been downloading the pages, showing only the URL (not the name of the thread), and showing a big red "X" which means "delete this downloaded page from the cache."

So something in the download process is different in the last two days.

I'm running IE 5.5 on Windows ME, and if I go a coulple of hours without re-booting, the browser starts acting goofy, like not being able to open links. Clearing the cache, under Internet Options-Delete Files--Delete content, usually takes care of it
