Bike Rack Locking Trouble
I have a hard time locking my bike to the rack I have at work. I don't know what the name of it is, but it basically has about 8 "slots" where most people seem to be just poking in their front wheel and cabling it up. Since I have a U-Lock and I don't want to lock just the wheel (outside of the rear triangle) I don't know how to get the center of bike bike close enough to lock it. The only option is if i'm at either edge of the whole rack, which isn't always available.
It looks sort of like this:

The thing is, my wheels are too big to fit through the slots.
Any advice?

Such racks are worthless. Most of them are put together with several "easy off" bolts", making the beefy end bars a two minute job to remove. The inner bars are so flimsy that you can yank them out with your bar hands. And, they do not allow locking up with the ONLY method that protects your frame and rear wheel, which is putting the lock around the rear wheel, and a beefy steel post set in concrete.
Find a parking meter, or sturdy steel pole to lock up to. Try to convince the owner of the "junk" rack to replace it with a real rack.
