Wizard bike-cost $3000?What is it?

I should know better than to involve myself in selling someone elses bikes, but here goes.
A friend of my wife was recently widowed. Her husband was an avid biker. She wants to sell a couple of his "most valuable" bikes. I haven't seen them, so I don't know what they are.One of them is a "Wizard" which my wife says, the widow says is a MTB that costs $2700 new? I searched "Wizard" and found motorized bikes-this isn't motorized -at least this is the soory I get, and my impression is that it is a recent bike-not vintage. The widow also claims that this"Wizard" has recently gone up in retail by $1000 ??
Like I said,I should know better. I will probably get blamed for selling them too cheap.
I eventually will take a look at them. but it might be a while. They are part of a "crime scene"(long story), so it might take several days before I see it/them.
I should know better,but... Thanks,Charlie
PS There are also 2-3 recumbents-always kinda expensive.Maybe this "Wizard" is one of them??

I would contact the LBS that the husband used to frequent. I know my LBS will occasionally sell off bikes for the widow of their "Ex" customers. They know the value of the bikes in the secondhand market and will try to get the best possible price. Incidentally- that Wizard bike couldn't possible be a "Merlin" by any chance? Top rate bike if it is.

THe motorized bike is called a Whizzer (pretty nice bikes too, 100mpg+). I have no idea what this bike you are talking about is though.

If it is what I think it is you found gold. You just might have an early Bryan Baylis frameset...
Wizard was the name he used the first couple of years he was making frames. The man is an frame building artist and now he is retired. If I could find one in my size I'd buy it.

Wow
Old thread-but interesting.
The recumbent-was a pricy bike-sold it for about $2000
It had 2 front wheels-orange color-shimano parts-nice
There was a Titanium frame-which was nice
I don't specifically remember getting a WIZARD frame TO SELL
the wife some friend of her late husband-might have offered her what she figured was "good money" for it.
If it was that WIZARD no doubt it was too little-
I still used one of the wheel sets-the ceramic coating on the wheels slightly "flaked off" maybe being under water for 25 days??
but I pushed out the bearings-replaced then and still use those wheels-they are very light-crossmax something or other-
couldn't sell them-not with the ceramic damaged the way it was
Thanks
interesting stuff

Brian Baylis and Mike Howard built custom road bikes under the "Wizard" name back in the 1970s-80s. I'm not sure if they ever built mountain bikes, though.

Brian Baylis, Main

Sad news, probably one of the most skilled men to ever build a frame has passed away

I went to look at some of Brian Baylis' work to find he's now in God's custom frame shop. He passed away in 2016. He wasn't very old, maybe 61 or 62. He was an artist.
