Serial numbers
I recently purchased a 2006 Specialized S Works Tarmac.
When I got home I noticed the serial # was 05-*****
Are the 1st 2 numbers indicative of the year?

According to the Specialized website, typically the first two digits represent the model year of the frame.
Go here:
https://www.specialized.com/bc/sbcfaq.jsp
then seach for "serial", and look at answer number 4.

I'd still ask Specialized for clarification to make sure that means its an 05 model, or isn't an 06 manufactured in the second half of 05 since the model year does start on Jn 1st.
