Anyone try these out? You know, the one's that keep your ho-ho's from getting numb and helps prevent extended ride impotence. I bought one today paid a little extra to get the one with extra padding. I was wondering if anyone else has switched over and there thoughts on it. I'm hoping it feels a bit better especially on the trainer where I tend to keep more time in the saddle than when I actually get out to ride.

Alot of manufacture's make saddles with that center channel cut out now.. some have a larger channel then others. I don't think the extra padding will make much difference though.. the extra padding will probably just bunch up and push into places it's not supposed to...

What a waste of money! I rode one of those things for about 100 miles, and it was the most uncomfortable thing I've ever sat my @$$ on! All the cutout did was put EXTRA pressure on the places that were left! And don't get me started on the stitching.......
For the amount of money you'd pay for one of those worthless gimmick cutout saddles, you could buy a Brooks leather sling saddle. Since there is noting pushing up at you from under it, it will be the most comfortable saddle you'll ever own. They last forever, too.

I think that a lot of the time people blame the saddle itself for causing problems that actually arise from improper positioning. Other times the problem is with the saddle, but it's because there's too much padding (puts pressure on soft tissue) or its width doesn't match the width of the "sit bones."

There are also variations, like bar height, that can affect saddle comfort.

And people change over time. Physiological changes in middle-aged men can affect saddle comfort compared to what worked for the same guy twenty years earlier. Prostate enlargement can case a slight general swelling in the perineal area that can be alleviated with an anatomic saddle.

Anatomic saddles can be helpful, but shouldn't be substituted for proper saddle fit and positioning. The "v" cutout on the rear of the original Specialized anatomic saddles, for example, won't help on a bike that's too stretched out causing the rider to pull forward onto the nose of the saddle. Choosing an anatomic saddle that's too wide probably won't alleviate the pressure, either.

I have one. I put it on my commute bike to appease my wife. It's not bad, but I rarely spend more than an hour on that saddle so I don't know if it really provides much long term comfort. It certainly doesn't beat a well-adjusted seat and a pair of shorts with a good chamois.

I don't really need it when on the trail, but I'm hoping it will help a lot when on the trainer which is when I have the most problems. Nothing ever went numb on the trail, but happens very quickly on the trainer. Not sure why other than I move around a lot more when on the trail. And when on the trail I'll stop every so often to take pictures.

I have the Body Geometry Comp (2001) on my road bike. Works great. I used to have the Body Geometry Pro (2002), but that damn emblem was just rubbing me raw. Switched it out for the 2001 Comp.

I recommend them, but then, I have not tried alot of different brands.

I've used the Specialized saddle as well as more traditional saddles and have not noticed a difference with either.

Funny-I was storing a bike for a friend, and it had a body geometry saddle. I rode the thing twice and hated every inch I travelled!! I even slapped on an old Brooks B17N on it just to make it rideable. The B17N is quite narrow, and is probably the least comfortable saddle Brooks makes, bu it was a real improvement over that body geometry saddle!

I have never interfaced well with Specialized seats. Now, a Terry Fly; pure butter my friend.
