Transformations

Transformation #1. A visit to Springbrook today indicated the transformation wrought by the rain all last week (they got 7 inches on Tuesday morning alone!). Absolutely magnificent.

Transformation #2. There were about four kids up there who seemed rather impressed to see a cyclist. They seemed genuinely excited asking questions like "did you ride up the mountain?" and "do you get tired riding a long way." I'm just wondering at what age the transformation into the driver who hates the sight of cyclists begins.

Ask the question: At what age does driver's ed start? and you'll have a pretty good idea.

I find that kids are often more easily impressed than adults. I attribute it to a natural humility, a fascination with life that overflows any fear of what other think. It is perhaps their greatest virtue, the gradual loss of which, as adulthood creeps in,
is a major cause of confusion and poor choices.

Some people hate kids. I can't understand that.

Humility is an attribute that actually makes us teachable, therfore potentially wiser.

Chris -
The selfish ones learn to hate bicycles (or anything else that gets in their way) as late teens. But you can see it developing in some earlier if you watch closly or remember your classmates when you were young.

Pete -
that makes me glad I don't seem to grow up.

not all who drive, hate, and not all who ride love... there are many types out there (you should see this easily by comparing everyone here who visits the forums...) and some people I've run into have taken a real interest in cycling when they see me (even though they are older) while others seem to not care, or like you said 'hate'.... but it doesn't stop me from riding :)
