I just did my Road Bike (Concorde) overhaul yesterday at my other store (great tools there).

First thing I did to the bike was take over my torn red handlebar tape and all my cables and housing. They were all shot after 5000km (cheap cables were used). I then did the standard overhaul. I removed all the components. I let the parts sit in degreaser for 30minutes to flush out the systems and make sure they were clean. Then I dried them, relubed and greased and cleaned off the frame. Then I put all the parts back on. I put new Duraace Brake and Gear Cables and new housin on the bike. Put on some black Profile cork tape and the bike was good as new!

Unfortunately, the rear rim has 2 flatspots in it and it won't stay in true so I gotta just go out and buy a new Open Pro rim and DT spokes and I'll rebuild the real wheel.

Yea when I said bearings I meant all bearings. I also said I put all parts in degrease.

My winter projects included the following: Repacking the axles, truing the wheels, and cleaning the drive train of my daughters bike, the same thing to mine and my wifes Mt. bikes, re-cabling, new chain rings, chain, cassette, front fork, handle bar and stem on my old Trek 2500 road bike, and finally complete assembly of my new 2003 LeMond Victoire Ti road bike! (Complete w/ a Power Tap).

Im in the middle of a rebuild on my old steel frame roadie, i cant handle riding a MBK on the road and decided that if my excess weight damages the bike, ill just fix it again and again until im down to where i should be on the scales.


Hubs - new bearings, cables - all gone, new tyres and tubes, new brake pads, new tape and a new chain, my LBS is trueing my wheels (the only part i cant do) and by tuesday this week i should be good to go, cant wait.

Replace crap shimano hubs with ones made for men
Rebuild both wheels - the front 20mm - standard rear
New Disc brakes (Yeah I can finall stop going downhill)
New Stem, handlebars and seatpost
New Chain
new pedals (haven't decided which ones)

Those are my upgrades this year. Costing almost as much as my bike.

Oh what they heck...
The Mrs. and I just dropped a few fun tickets on new seats (terry liberator gel), she got a new stem, we both got new tires, I got new racks and panniers, new shocks(ebay) to rebuild my old one... and she'll end up with a shock too, new shifters-(used Ebay...good shape) although I'm not sure whether I'll take off the 8 year old or so grip shift 600's. I got new egg beater pedals and shoes(sport mountain from specialized) new pump (zefal hp/z), and new cycling shorts. I still want/ actually NEED new cables, the 8 YO ones are beginning to complain. OH.... I also need to get my rear wheel trued up. All told though it's STILL cheaper than one major tune-up on a car and we have shiny new stuff LOL

speaking of getting the bike ready, I think I have to make it ready for late spring riding, have not notice that my chain need to be lube seeing it attach to the roller for that last couple of months
