Relay Triathlon?
Anybody here ever tried doing a Tri as a three-person relay? I had no idea that these things existed, but my friend told me about the New York City Tri... and you can sign up as a team of two or three. I'm planning on being the bike person . Anyways, just wanted to share that I think that doing a tri as a relay seems like a great way of being introduced to the sport for newbies like me, for whom the prospect of doing a full tri is quite intimidating. Even though I won't be doing a full olympic tri this year, I think just being caught up in the excitement of the race should be enough inspiration and motivation come next year...

I've never done one personally, but the Tri For Fun series here in NorCal always has a relay option. I've noticed that it's a good way for families to race: Mom swims, Junior rides, and Dad brings it home!
I think you'll have fun. Let us know how it goes.

Every lane is a bike lane
I did one in a corporate triathlon last year (I did the run leg). It was a good day. They had an option to do the full triathlon, which I'd like to have a go at one day. However, incredibly for someone who has lived on the Gold Coast for over eight years, I can't swim.

They are fairly popular here in Nor Cal. I am doing the run portion of one this summer with co-workers in the corporate division
It is a great way to go out and compete and not totally wear yourself out.
I get stuck doing what no one else wants to do since I train in all three sports all year long.
