More forums / sub forums?
Thanks to Buddy, Jon, and others who have contacted me about adding more forums. So here is the official thread, what sub forums would you like to see?
These are the ones I have already had commented about:
Pictures / Gallery forum.
Bike-a-log / Journal forum.
Suggestions / Feedback & Announcements forum
Travelogues sub forum in the Touring forum.
Downhill / DS & Single Speed sub forums in the MTB forum.
Gear / Product reviews in the Road / MTB / Touring and BMX forums.
My only concern, is that there will be too many forums, and not enough activity in each to keep the forum alive, what are your thoughts?

Servus!
My advice is to clean out some of the "less frequented" areas in favor of putting in new forums. Some of these sound really interesting!

Joe,
Maybe you could combine some things as you did with Road Cycling/Racing.
For instance, an Off Road (maybe there is a better name) could have Cyclocross, Mountain and BMX sub forums.
Another forum could contain Recumbent, Tandem and Trike sub forums.
These changes would compress the main screen.
Maybe Pictures, Serial Rides (hint, hint), Ride Log, Travelogue and Touring could be subs under a main heading.
Mechanic and Product Reviews could be subs as well.
Kind of like directories and subdirectories, "reorganization" would simplify the main screen without actually leaving anything out.
FWIW,
Raymond

Agree with all of the above. The new suggestions would be interesting, but we don't want to have so many forums as to dilute the site.
Right now it is very easy to navigate, as opposed to some of the other forums out there. I wouldn't want to see BFC changed too much.

I actualy agree, Give me more ideas on categories and forums / sub forums. Should i move the cyclocross forum into the MTB forum? How would you like the layout to look?

Joe,
I think a product reveiws forum or sub-forum would be great. It could be a sub forum of Bike Mechanics or off-discussion.

I really like Rainman's idea of setting up the forums Joe.
It sounds logical, and may improve navigation if adding new forums.
An "Offroad" forum could include MTBing, Cyclo-cross and perhaps BMX.
As it stands, Bikeforums is dialled in to perfection....only add these additions if you have the time/energy to devote to it....
Again, I'm sure as always we all really appreciate your hard efforts Joe...cheers matey

As far as the format/layout, the way you currently have the subforums listed under the forums when viewing the General Discussion screen works for me.

I'll take fast over fancy anyday in web design. It can still be pretty and be fast. There's a nice balance as the site is now.
