Correct me if I'm wrong, but the places where gas is much higher priced than the USA ... doesn't the some of the revenue from the gas go to other things?

Actually, no. I know my description wasn't quite geographically accurate but it was just intended as a humorous if obscure reference to another thread of some time ago. Sorry to confuse you

A can of beans costs about $.59 at my grocery store. Oh, you mean gasoline. I don't think anyone in the US actually knows what gasoline costs because of all the tax breaks and subsidies given to oil companies. Just because you pay X$ at the pump, doesn't mean that XX$aren't being given to Texaco et al instead of being used for job creation and schools.

$5 a gallon is cheap for race gas dirtbikedude. I run the 110 octane in the thumper but for fun riding I usually mix it with 93 - 50/50. Last time I bought some it was $35 for a 5 gal can.

Car gas is still running about $1.46 here, not all that bad unless you consider I get about 14 MPG. If ya wanna play you gotta pay!

I think it should be:

Or even better:

If you want High Octane gas for a cheap price, check out the airport and ask for 100 LL.

A can of beans... LOL!!! If you ate enough of it, you could propulsate your bike!

Just a note, 100LL is not unleaded. And I think filling your car with avgas directly from a fuel bowser is illegal and could result in a severe fine (US$10,000 was what I once heard). It is however legal to fill an approved fuel transport container such as a jerrycan. Oh, and BTW, 100LL is going for around US$3/USgal right now.

No, it's just not subsidised to the same extent.

I have to run Medium grade (89 Octane) or higher in my car, so I have to pay $1.89 or higher.

It really sux when you drop $10 into the car, and it barely gives you 1/2 a tank.

I keep track of how much I spend on things... well... my wife does. What can I say, she's a banker's daughter. Anyways, I've found that despite the rise in gas prices over the past couple of years, my annual gas spending has declined. OTOH, she's also discovered that my annual cycling spending budget hasn't.

I have ran a mix of race gas and avgas in my trials bike. 100LL here in OK runs anywhere from $1.85 to $2.00 a gallon, depending on where you go and how much the local muni's want to rob the pilots for. It is not calculated by the R+M method either so it works out to about 94 octane by R+M. It also has a lower flashpoint than car gas, but is good to mix. It is illegal to run avgas on the road, but it's okay offroad. I usually take a 5 gallon can to my local airport and get mine.

Regular unleaded (87 octane) went up to $1.54/gal a couple days ago here. Some of you people are really getting jabbed...

There is a carwash near me that sells 98 octane (R+M/2 number) racing gas for about $3.69/gallon. Back when gas was selling for $1.20, they were getting $3.49/gallon for the stuff. Must be one heck of a markup on that stuff....

It's 91.9 in Vancouver.

I started to cycle to work when gas hit 50 cents a litre

I ride the bike to work and try to do errands close to the house on my bike.

I drive an Echo (anything more fuel efficient - hybirds, beetle diesel - costs twice as much as the Echo) and fill it once every 2 weeks.

According to the laws of this country, Bush was elected. Popular vote does not supercede the electoral college vote. This is a country of states, and those states get their fair vote.

oh boy, here we go again.

What is it with this forum, every time somebody gets a good discussion going some jughead from the poor loser party has to come along and whine about something. From what I've seen, especially here, people who like to drive cars and trucks seem very much happier. Maybe it's the gas fumes that make us so happy? If that's the case I sure hope gas doesn't get too expensive or we will all be whiny unhappy poor losers eventually. You don't see all this whining on RM, why here?
