Thinking I might take my Saris roof rack back to Trek.
So I went and picked up a Saris roof rack at the local Trek store. Got the load bars $200, two bike trays w/ locking fork mounts $200 and the clips for my mini van (family car) $30. Tax another 25ish. So in total 455. I went this route, thinking that I wanted it sized out right, but finding that it isnt that difficult at all. There are only three load bar sizes, but its the clips that you need to get right for your vehicle. Anyways, went on ebay and couldnt resist bidding on a demo Saris rack (which would fit my everyday car) - same one I just purchased, but this one had one fork mount and one stand up mount. It also came with one wheel holder -- another 40 bucks if purchased at the lbs. Well I won the auction for $180 and 25 for the ship. Now Im thinking, should I take back the rack I just purchased for the mini van and wait until something comes on ebay - maybe just load bars and transfer the trays back and forth when needed for family outings? Just having a hard time accepting the fact that I paid 455 for one rack and 207 for almost the same thing!
I have a saris roof rack with the longer load bars, 2 bike trays with an extra bike carrier with the fork mount for my FS bike, the wind farring and tons of clips for sale. I use my SUV to carry my bikes now. I would consider selling the complete package for 230 plus shipping if you are interested. Or since I am in the Chicagoland area maybe we can meet 1/2 way.
What vehicle are you installing this on?
