Someone said they were. Wasn't sure. Thanks, though.

edit: Was told by my friend that it is LEMOND that is related. I KNEW it started with an "L"....

I know nothing about GT, but thats not how I remember it going down with Schwinn. I worked at a Schwinn Dealer when the buyout happened. As far as I remember, the owner of Schwinn wanted to retire and make 70 million off of selling Schwinn. 70 million was a hell of a lot for a bike company, so they were in no way bankrupt.

No they definitely went bankrupt. Pacific picked them up in a bankruptcy auction.

That makes sense, but I clearly remember 70 million dollars changing hands. It doesn't say on Wilkepedia, so I'm guessing thats how much was paid at the auction.

True, i could picture 2 thieves of opportunity walking by a shiny new GT:
thief 1: "yo dawg lets steal that GT"
thief 2: "naww homie they were bought out by Walmart that bike aint nuthin"
thief 1: "aight then, lets go over to mlh122's house and try to steal the depth finder out of his boat and not succeed but just really screw it up so its depth is off by 12 feet and he runs aground and ruins the propeller"

sorry personal experience inserted in the hypothetical situation
