Summer Leave

Hey Folks,

I just wanted to let everyone know that I only have 7 more days of work before my three month paid leave. My last day of work will be Friday, July 13 and I will be returning to work on October 8. Don't worry, I am getting a computer in about a month, so I will still be able to post.

For all of you who do not know, I work for a standardized test scoring company. About 1/2 of the employees are laid off every summer, simply because there are no test to be scored.

I will be enjoying my summer with plenty of biking, sleeping and gardening. I will also be taking a two week trip to the West Coast in August and a 4 day trip to South Dakota next week.

Don't feel sorry for me, I am sure I will find something to fill my days with.

You could always design and post a daily web page.

Steele,

I'm jealous!! That reminds me of the good old days last summer when I was unemployed (corporate downsizing) and had nothing to do all day but be a house-husband and ride. That was the life.
I hate having to work. It interferes with the important stuff like riding.

We design, administor, and grade those annoying "bubble" tests that you probably took every year in school.

Steele-Bike, does your employer know you're so--uh, enthusiastic about being away from your job? Tsk, tsk...

I'm back from South Dakota. I did a little biking up there, but not much free time. There is not a whole lot in SD, so biking is unlimited. Watch out for the cattle, though....plenty of them.

The girlfriend and I were visiting her Grandma, who owns 1000 acres on a lake. Most of the land is pasture, but very scenic.

This is my last week of work before the 3 month leave. About 1/2 the workers here are laid off in the summer, so this is quite the festive time of year.

I have ordered my home PC, so I should be online in no time at all. HP 733MHz Celeron, 128 RAM, 40 GB Hard drive, CD-Writer. Reconditioned, costing $459. If you like reconditioned computers/accessories check out www.egghead.com
