Small color changes, again...

Ok, after the first color change, postings dropped by 25%!... So I have removed the baby blue's, sand reverted back to the old grey / light grey look.

I have also added a few more colors to the forums. To change to the style you like, click on the profile link, then edit options, just above the avatar selection, is a Style Set drop-down box. Choose the color you want to use when on the forums.

Here are the current choices, I will add more in the future.

Blue

Cyan

Light Blue

Purple

Red

Joe, now don't get me wrong, you probably know from what I've written here that you're a kind of hero of mine. But what you're saying there is an example of the "post hoc" fallacy: something happens after something else happened, therefore it's because of the something else. Not necessarily! It could be a coincidence that the postings dropped, and probably was.

Both the color schemes looked attractive to me, so I don't care--I just hope this doesn't all get too fancy and involved. I keep having visions of Microsoft "upgrades" that are really giant steps back!

I suspect those colors reminded a lot of people--unconsciously maybe--of the longtime default Windows color scheme. Users who are anti-Microsoft would react negatively. I'm not particularly anti-MS, so they didn't bother me....

That's nice Joe. Being able to change colors is great. I like the old blue, but the red is kinda neat too.

Joe,

I guess I'm a simple kind of guy, but I had no problems with any of the old color schemes and like most of the choices you now offer.
Just don't give me too many choices. I might waste time looking at each choice rather than reading posts.

Ron

Maybe postings dropped off because summer's here and everyone's out riding!

I liked the colors, but I'll have to check out the new selections. Keep up the good work, Joe! But like RonH says, don't give us too many choices, our lives are complicated enough already!

Cool color variety, Joe. I'm kinda nostalgic, though, so I think I will stick with the original scheme.

Maybe now that the posting public has a choice of hues, they will become more attracted to the page. It is like the hummingbird wildflower mix I planted this year...you have to know what they want and have it there for them. Although, I have yet to see a hummingbird this year, so maybe that is a bad analogy.
Here's to more posters than I have hummingbirds!!

P.S. Even though I will be having summer off here soon, and I won't have to hide from my boss while posting, I have one suggestion about the color scheme. My work screen has a white screen with a grey/dark grey border (very similar to the Bike Forums page, other than the blue border), so I was thinking that if one of choices was grey, that would work out great. Bosses just don't like to see too much color on their workers computers...usually it means they are not working.

Modern hummingbirds are not attracted to wildflowers; they prefer inverted Coke(TM) bottles painted BRIGHT RED!

Servus!

Remember Joe, colors subtly affect the way people feel and react to certian situations. Try that red scheme and see if things don't get more aggressive around here!

I like the cyan scheme myself. Sorta relaxing, exactly the reason why I come here!

Worse yet, we could have a lot of aggressive hummingbirds signing on--and then what would we do?

I agree with Nebill. Just glad to have this forum; the colors don't matter much.

Still, that lavender/pink/orange scheme does sound interesting...
