I was on a one-lane two-way street - there were parked cars on either side, and one lane open in either direction. I was riding slightly left of the center of the right-hand lane, doing about 20 mph (slight downhill). No cars were in front or behind me. Suddenly a woman walked out from between parked cars right in front of me, looking the wrong way! I yelped and rock-dodged around her with about an inch to spare - I heard her gasp when I entered her field of vision (at which point I had already passed her).
Good god was I rattled afterwards! She's lucky to have her ribs intact, and I my head. Some people really need to increase their brain-activity-to-walking-pace ratio, especially if they're from countries where people drive on the left!
