Leg hair removal....

Okay, who here shaves, waxes or leaves the fuzz?

If you DO shave or wax the pins, how far up do you go??

My girlfirend waxes mine to mid thigh, but this year I'm thinking of shaving. A little silly looking when nekkid but she's the only one who sees me like that...

anyone care to explain this one to me? i have a real hard time believing that there is any aerodynamic advantage to shaving your legs. seems like grips or bar tape would cause more drag than leg hair.

well, when you have hair pants and you you are at the 'drome and you don't want to look like a yetti in spandex, you shave your legs.

Plus road rash is a lot easier to bandage when you've got hairless legs.

The real reason why people (or swimmers, anyway) shave is because is produces a greater adrenaline response.

When you shave, you leave exposed, sensitive skin. When this skin comes in contact with water, or air, it produces a measurable increase in adrenaline, which means greater performance.

In the water, hair causes very significant hydrodynamic drag, but in the open air, it's next to nothing. The real "performance" difference comes from the adrenal response.

I shave (though I'm considering waxing. any input?) up to the waist. Higher for water polo/swim.

I shave waist to mid knee seems like if I go for a 60 mile ride I always come back with some type of ingrown hair or zit even after washing the shorts twice with a non perfumed soap

Shaving

The mainr eason you'd shave is for the road rash. When you have hair and road rash the hair keeps pulling on the damaged area.

Also for the true Euro Pro types massage is much better without the hair.

Hmm.. I thought most people did it so if they fell and had to use a bandage later, it wouldn't hurt like hell to replace it. When I fell and skinned my arm at the 'drome, I kinda wished I had shaved just that part of my arm before going. No way I'm shaving my beautiful, beautiful legs..

Vanity. That is 90% of the reason I shave.

Ankle to mid thigh, all of my scalp, and most of my face.

Does this happen if you don't shave "waist to mid knee?"

hmm. i never knew of the adrenaline thing, but i suppose it makes a bit of sense.
i have no opinion one way or another on the matter, i just wondered if there was any real justification, since the wind-drag theory seemed pretty flimsy.

i shave waist to mid thigh. i dont think it makes me aerodynamic, but it keeps me from looking like a muppet.

Oooh, this is a nice theory. Any sources on this? Or can I just spread it as a rumor?

Had it from the horses mouth- or nearly- On the commentary for the TDF this year.

The reason for shaving the legs is so that the masseuse can can have an easier time when working on the legs.

People shave because it's a tribal ritual and they want to play too. The other reasons are pure B.S. for us amatuers. Save it for the bar.

As to how: Google "boyzilian". Let us know how it turns out for ya.

What a moronic term. It was my understanding that this was called a brazillian bikini wax irregardless of gender.

You just had to go there.
As for your other assertion, I disagree with it but don't give a rats rear end.

here's an idea, If you want to shave your legs, shave your legs. It doesnt matter for what reason, just do it. If you dont want to, then dont. Anyone who doesnt like you shaving your legs, doesnt have to look or feel your legs. If your worried about if other people think you are manly or not, then learn a little about thinking for yourself. Do what you want, as long as your not hurting someone else.
