Info on older Bianchi

I am trying to learn a bit about this Bianchi I am getting ready to sell. I do not even know the name of the model. It has several stickers on it that read:
Made in Italy, Formula Two, Preduzione Columbus, Edoardo Bianchi, Bianchi 1986-1987 Campione del Mondo.

It has a Suntor 5000 front der, and Suntor 7000 rear der, Bianchi crank, and a 6 speed freewheel.

Any info would be appreciated! I will try to post a pic shortly.

Matt

I own a couple of Bianchi's I just ride them though don't know too much about them except they are quality bikes, they last a life time with proper care. You might check out their web site you might find some history on the bike.

Timmy...what are the dimensions, either <center of crank to center of seat post top> or < center of seatpost top to center of handle bar stem>. In inches will be fine..

Is the color white or prealscent?

And why are you selling it?

You can try the message board at BianchiUSA here or visit the vintage lightweights forum at www.oldroads.com. I have 2 Bianchis of similar vintage don't know what years they are. One must be pre-1987 (no championship decal), the other is post. You can also visit a SunTour component history site (do a Google search, I can't remember where it is) that gives production dates for certain models of SunTour components.

The frame measures 20 3/4" from center of BB to top of seat post top. My wife says the color is pearlesent. This is not an ad, I am just trying to get some info to answer questions when it does go up for sale. FYI, I am selling it because I have adopted a new baby. Here is a pic of the new family member:

Also, the Bianchi has Suntour down tube shifters, the rear lever has the option of switching from friction to indexed shifting. After looking at the history of Suntour components, I am led to believe this bike was made around 1987. I tried to register on the BianchiUSA forum, but some kind of error kept coming up. I'll keep trying. Any other help from this board would still be very appreciated!

I tried the Bianchiusa board, but I don't think anyone is home over there. I'll give bikeforums one more chance before this thread gets buried forever. Please, anyone know anything about this bike?

I do know one thing about that bike... BMX platform pedals have no place on a vintage italian frame *wipes tear out of eye...*

BTW, when you decide to sell it, let me know. Interested.

Your frame is mid-to-high end, as evidenced by the Columbus stickers on the fork. I think you have the vintage pegged about right.

I like Bianchi frames and I like SunTour derailleurs -- interestingly, my 1982 Bianchi has a lesser TreTubi frame (Columbus main triangle), but Campag. NR derailleurs. By the mid-1980s, various European manufacturers had become comfortable with Japanese gear.

I'm laughing about the BMX pedal comment, I should have seen that one coming! In my defense, the pedals are not on there for me. I put them on there for a friend who has a fear of clipless pedals who was going to use it for a winter trainer, but never did. Since I have my new wheels, I haven't bothered taking the platforms off. For the dignity of the bike, I guess I should remove them.
