Component Inquiry

I just wanted to run a few parts by you that I am not really familiar with and see what you know about them. They come stock on a bike that I am currently looking at.

1. Ambrosio Excellence Wheels
2. Orbit x-1 Headset
3. Propulsion Kevlar Tires
4. Gigantix? - Seatpost

These are standard on the Marinoni Piuma that I am looking at. Upgrades are available but I want to know if I need to bother upgrading these parts. I am mostly riding for fitness (serious fitness) and participate in a few triathlons and road races.

Thanks

cap'n,

Don't know about most of the stuff you listed,
but Ambrosio are an old respected rim manufacturer
(Italian I think).
May not be high zoot like ksyrium sst's but
they are good, reliable wheels.

Interesting. Someone else has a thread going asking which of five bikes he should choose. Marinoni Piuma Xtra is one of his choices and he has it listed with Campy Neutron wheels and a Centaur 10-speed group, which would be really nice set-up. You might want to find this thread, which I saw earlier today, and see where he is getting his bike with all the nice gear all ready on it.

Ambrosio's are fine wheels, but Neutrons are really nice. Light, strong and fast. If I have a good summer I plan to reward myself with a pair of them in the fall.

That was me that started the other thread as well. I just found a place which is selling these as their stock items. The price is significantly cheaper with these parts.

CC:

these are the pro teams racing on Ambrosio rims:

Gerolsteiner
Colnago - Landbouwkrediet
Lampre
Panaria - Fiordo
Colombia - Selle Italia
Tenax
Vlaanderen - T Interim
Labarca2 - Café Baque
Maestro

Not a bas endorsement I think.
