j&g (bicycleclothing.com) question

after seeing numerous positive reviews of their touring shorts, i tried calling last week to place an order. nobody answered, but i assumed they had closed the office early because of the holiday weekend. i placed an order on their website instead and immediately received an email invoice. it's now several business days later and no email notice about the order being shipped and still nobody answers the phone or returns messages. i'm considering cancelling my order, but without a person to verify the cancellation that's going to be hard. anybody have any experience with them or have alternate contact info? unfortunately i can't be patient since i'm leaving on tour shortly, so i'm hoping my only option isn't to dispute the charge with my credit card company.

I've had good luck reaching them on the phone. As it is a small shop you might need to call a few times. (Also remember about time differences if you are not on the west coast as they are.)

i've called many, many times- during their stated business hours. the call just goes to voicemail, and i did leave a message. so nobody is picking up the phone or checking messages.

I placed an order with them a few months ago, and I was very happy with the transaction. I've also e-mailed them a few times, and I've gotten responses, although sometimes it was a few days later.

From Thanksgiving through Christmas one should not expect speedy customer service from ANY company. Be patient dude, J&G has never done me wrong.

finally got through to them and they did send it out the next day. apparently they normally do send out a shipment notification but a bug prevented it from happening this time.

I have called them and left a message. They called back about a day later. Very friendly and patient women, whose name I forgot. I am going to be ordering a rain jacket for myself and my dad from them. I will also be investing in pants, just trying to decide on water proof or the wind pants.

I love the Patrol Pants - they are all I need on my legs for my commute down around 25F or so. The legs zip off turning them into shorts, which is great for the spring/fall when it's cold in the morning, but warms up for the ride home.

Chip, do these shorts have an inner liner with padding or are they just baggy all over?

I got some Addis shorts a number of years ago that were like bike shorts inside a baggy short... they are great, but I cannot find them any more.

No the shorts don't have a padded liner, They are not as baggy as most MTB shorts.

Sorry dude, these are pants with zip-off legs, not mtb shorts with all the padding and such. The seat of the pant is made of a lycra-blend fabric, while the rest is nylon and both breathable and water resistant. It has pockets in the front, elastic waist with drawstring and big ole velcro belt loops (for a duty belt), it has zips on the legs, so you can pull them on over shoes or boots, and reflective velcro straps to cinch up the ankles to keep the pants out of your chain. Best cycling/commuting pants I ever had.

You can find them MTB shorts about anywhere. I got like 4 old pairs that I am giving my brothers for xmas - along with the bikes I got them. I don't wear them things anymore. I prefer cargo shorts (with flat seams) with some Performance padded undies (If I need padding for long rides...beauty of a Brooks is that padding is optional most of the time), or them J&G touring shorts. I do have a couple of pair of lycra shorts...for looking like a roadie now and then.
