RAGBRAI and the Wabash Trace

To all RAGBRAI riders. There is a beautiful rail-trail biking and hiking trail from Silver City to Shenandoah. The trail has some of the most beautiful scenery in Iowa. It will be available for those who would like a more gentle ride to Shenandoah. The trail also goes through Shenandoah to Coin and Blanchard. One mile north of Blanchard, RAGBRAI turns east toward Bedford. Please understand that certain rules apply to the riders. There will be families out on the trail enjoying a bike ride or hike. Please ride responsibly. There is no hurry!! You can ride from Silver City to Shenandoah in about 3 hours so relax, ride gently and enjoy the day. A day pass will be requiered at $1 each day and will be sold in Silver City by Wabash Trace Officials. Look for the people with Yellow T-shirts advertising the Wabash Trace. Support will be available in Malvern along the trail. There are two restraunts and a bar in Malvern. The next stop will be Strahan with no facilities. There will be water, beverages and food available there. Watch for signs. Imogene is the next town and has an excellent bar and restraunt. They will be waiting for you. Finally you will be in Shenandoah. The RAGBRAI camping and vendors will be in Sportsman's Park and the Wabash Trace goes right by the park.

True! The total amount of miles from Council Bluffs to Blanchard is 62.3 miles. The post was aimed at RAGBRAIers who would be staying in Glenwood and riding to Silver City. All of you who know the trail, as I know you do, are free to start in Council BLuffs and ride if you like.
