Serfas Optics?

Hello all,
I am looking at buying a pair of the glasses for use while cycling and also just around the place. Particulary interested in the interchangeable lenses one, and out of these particulary the SIKE model becuase it is telling me it accepts Rx inserts (because I am blind).

Website is here
http://www.serfasoptics.com/index.shtml

However, there isn't much information on the website, in fact none really on the Rx inserts.

So, basically, does anyone around here know anything more about these glasses?
Are they OK, especially since they are a lot cheaper than others such as the bit of a rip Rudy Project. I have tried on some Serfas and they do feel a bit cheaper but still excellent good for the price.

So, anyone own a pair and can enlighten me on a more long term experience? Bit annoying about the lack of information concerning the Rx inserts, but have sent them a message, hopefully I'll get a reply before New Year.

Thanks for the info.

From what I've seen, they are just cheap sunglasses. Nothing too special about them. If you want something nice, and Rx compatible, but not crazy expensive check out Ryders. They make 2 different styles of glasses with their "gasket" technology. The gasket allows you to make a Rx lens for the glasses, and not even have to use inserts!

The problem with most sports glasses is that they have an 8 base curve to them, which is very difficult to make a lens for. The gasket for Ryders allows the lenses to only have a 6 base curve, which optitricians (sp?) can make a lens for, but still fit in the frame with an 8 base curve. They look awesome, and doesn't look out of place at all!

Check out Ryders at:

Check out the Coilers.
Check out the Freefall.

Both the Coiler and Freefall use that gasket technology. If you want additional lenses with the gaskets (essentially blanks for you optitrician) they are $15 for clear, $20 for orange, and $30 for tinted.

Hope that helps! The fact that they are not just inserts will make them a lot more comfortable, and fit a lot better!

Meh, they are still prescriptions. 8-base frames aren't all that hard to make prescription lenses for. Well, technically they are, but not impossible, so they are just going to cost me more. I would rather pay more for the added protection I get from and 8-base frame compared to a 6-base.

Looks like I won't get a reply from serfas until after the new year.
