my fastest? downhill at around 100 km/h [i stopped looking at the speedo at 97 km/h and the max memory said 99.9]. the fastest i've ever gone in a level sprint with one hell of a lead-out was 58 km/h. i didn't hold that for very long, but i got well past my lead-out man...

On a flat, 29 mph racing a neighborhood kid on a roadmaster. Needless to say he didn't keep up long and was pretty impressed. He later asked me what the top speed of the bike was (what do you answer to that? It's kind of a funny question as I am the engine really).
On a hill 40 MPH and then I chickened out and slowed down.

on the flats, 37 mph, cyclocross rig. downhill, a whiff under 50 mph, same rig. probably could have gone faster, but I was getting a little scared (hadn't ever been on that road, didn't know what to expect etc).

56mph coming out of the San Bernardino Mtns, CA, in 1996

I think I did go faster once, During the Ride for Heart, nice long downhill on a closed Freeway, but the computer was set for mountain tire, and topped out at 54km/h.

After I hit 50mph; I don't look down. I've passed cars on highways, the Feds make these really nice dirt roads, they're almost as smooth as paved. I got over 50 on one of those coming off a mountain; that was kinda dumb brecause cars and even logging trucks use those roads. And I was using pretty much the whole road. I used to get up Sunday at dawn; go for a Mtn ride, and then bomb back down flat out. The ones that had trail on one side; and logging road on the other, were great.

Well...my computer's told me I reached 57 mph in a series of 2 small hills, followed by a gigantic steep hill and another small hill after that, but for some reason i highly doubt that. Other than that I've reached 39.5 with knobbies on and generally get around 31.5 on a normal basis for max speed. It'll be interesting to see what happens with the slicks on.
