BIKE FOR LIFE - 3,645 respondents have taken this survey.
Hello members,
I've taken this survey and wanted to bring this to your immediate attention. Thus far, 3,645 respondents.
https://www.bicyclinglife.com/survey.htm
Let your VOICES be heard as cyclists, motorists, pedestrians, skaters or joggers.
About this Survey:
Anyone who completes the survey can see a summary of the results; we figure you're probably as interested in how and why other people ride as we are in you.
Most cycling surveys these days seem to be created by 'traffic safety' experts who want to find out 'how dangerous cycling is'. They never seem to want to find out how safe cycling is, or how convenient, comfortable, healthy, affordable, challenging, or cheering cycling is. They seldom ask why people cycle or how far they cycle, or what the overall effect of cycling is on people's lives. They usually ask 'where and how did you get hurt?' Even the ways in which they ask about crashes and injuries often seem somehow biased against cycling itself.
The people who drafted this survey are not highway engineers or professional traffic safety wonks, but we are CYCLISTS, and researchers into cycling issues. We have a passionate interest in road safety for cyclists, of course, and we did dedicate a couple of pages of our survey to finding out what cyclists think about their most memorable bike crashes. But most of our survey is about cycling, not about crashing.
This is because we think that cycling is mostly not about crashing -- it's about riding. While we're curious to know how you crash, (if you crash), we'd like to know a lot more about how you avoid crashing. But mostly we'd like to know how you ride, where you ride, how far you ride, why you ride.
Do you use your bike to haul heavy stuff, or do you just go out and charge up and down hills for the sheer joy of feeling fit? Do you make a living with your bike, or do you ride purely for fun? What kinds of bikes do you ride? Do you own more than four bikes? Do you commute through rush hour traffic in the Big Bad City, or spin along quiet country lanes? Are you 90 and still riding centuries, or 35 and riding a bike for the first time? Do you ride instead of driving, or do you drive to get to nice places to ride? Do you ride instead of taking the bus, or do you throw your bike on the bus? Inquiring minds want to know!
For all of us, cycling is an integral part of living. We sincerely want to know how cycling fits into and enhances your LIFE.

Thanks.. Italia

Well, that's what it states there; did you try taking it yourself? I didn’t mean to insult anyone with my previous comment. After all 16 pages, and some of it don’t even make any cense!
PS. Is there a some kind of result that's suppose to be shown, because I didn't find anything out, I just gave all the information to some dude, with no return.

Didn't tell me anything, just showed the average numbers, I don't see how this can be a help to anyone.

Italia; some folk don't want to spend time doing something that may be helpful down the road. I took the survey and found that it took about 18 minutes to complete. I found some questions were vague but for the most part pertinent to bicyling. I took the survey hoping that somehow it is used in the future to help better the roads we ride on. So if that is the case, then I for one thank you for bringing it to my and hopefully others attention.
Geez, you all sit around your computers complaining about how unsafe the roads are etc but won't take a survey that could effect that. Even IF this survey resulted in such a minor change that only one persons life was saved by some sort of change some community did due to this survey, isn't that one life worth it?
Joe...please don't delete this thread just because of a couple bone heads.

Every lane is a bike lane
I took this survey a while ago. I found it interesting if nothing else.

UPDATE: I received the following email.
Thank you very much for completing our cycling survey.
We appreciate your taking the time to provide accurate
information; we hope that the results of this survey
will be useful to cyclists and cycling advocates.
You can VIEW the results of the survey, summarized,
at
https://www.ucolick.org/~de/AltTrans/...y/Results.html
These results are computed every hour at ten minutes past,
so they are nearly up to date. For a while we were computing them
on the fly (on demand), but this put too much load on the database server.
You can check these results any time; the page is dated, so
you can tell how recently they were recomputed.
Once again, we thank you very much for participating.
