Watch movies. I'm watching "The Godfather Pt II" while on my trainer tonight. If it's a good movie, then the time passes really quickly. Music works for me too, but to a much lesser extent.

Mine's parked in front of the TV. I need the distraction or I just won't ride. If I'm watching TV, I'll use the commercials as "Town Lines" sometimes. Other times, I'll use them as my rest period. Just depends.

I watch my favorite old Tv shows on dvd from Netflix. Right now it's Brisco County Jr

You can try Spinervals, the second one of the fitness series is the best I have found
for a non-racer. At least so far... But between shoveling, spinning classes, and getting sick, it seems I am always recovering from something.

I try to keep at least 30% of my trainer time pedaling with one leg. It does help break up the monotony.
Some people are like a Slinky ... not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs.

I just get bored and hate riding the damm thing, but you do what you have to do. In my case this winter I got too bored and worked on my new project car instead. I still ride the trainer just having difficulty doing it for long periods of time even with the TV on. You can buy training tapes to watch from your LBS and those help a little. I can't wait for better weather and to ride outside.
