I dont know if i can ride anymore

I switched out my worn 10sp DA cass@178 bucks for a Ultegra @$75 but 2oz heavier. I feel like i'm dead in the water trying to turn that weight now, what to do?

DataJunkie 02-19-07 08:44 AM

-Sell your bike.
-Drop a few lbs.
Are you serious or trolling?

GreenGrasshoppr 02-19-07 08:52 AM

get a colonic... i'm sure there's at least 2oz worth of crap in there that it'll flush out.

A good shave and a hair cut might get the weight down, but not the turning moments.

I like making fun of weight-weenies too. ;)

CommuterRun 02-19-07 02:02 PM

Uh-oh, you might have to make up the difference by stripping the paint off your bike.;)

GRedner 02-19-07 04:54 PM

Just snap off a few spokes from each wheel. That'll bring the weight down.

Drill speed holes in your downtube.

DataJunkie 02-20-07 06:37 AM

One word: fiber
I'm sure you can figure out what will happen.

mlh122 02-20-07 10:39 AM

you can't ride anymore because your cassette is 2 oz heavier? i bet sweat more than 2oz after riding 2 miles.

you can send me your heavy Ultegra and go get a new DA. whenever i think of trading parts to save a few ounces, i remind myself that i'm about 40lbs overweight. and shaving off 40lbs is free.

edit: when i started i was 40lbs overweight, its been 3 weeks and i'm now about 28lbs overweight.

ranger5oh 02-20-07 11:15 AM

I would never be able to ride my bike with an additional 2 oz. Id have to be in granny gear going downhill

sizzam 02-20-07 12:29 PM

Use your feet as breaks a couple times. You should be able to grind 2oz off the bottom of your shoes after a couple tries.

Well, they will break after you use them as brakes.

matimeo 02-20-07 08:48 PM

send me your bike, I'll take care of the problem

catatonic 02-20-07 08:57 PM

cry harder, if you cry out an extra 2 ounces, it will all even out.

You gotta be joking.

I took less water today, worked out great. I could really tell the weight difference. For spinnaker,i'm fricken joking.

Nachoman 02-21-07 09:24 PM

Next time you go out riding, only fill your water bottle 9\10 full. That should save a couple ozs.

lighthorse 02-22-07 10:07 AM

This was a good one.

slowandsteady 02-25-07 07:48 PM

Try not eating for 48 hours. All that glycogen in your liver can really weigh you down.
