Frame Material??
Hello,
I have a road bike frame made by PACONI in Melbourne Australia. The frame has lugs and weighs 2.2 KG. The problem I have is that I do not know if it is an Aluminium Frame (screwed/glued lugs) or a Cro-mo frame.
Is there any way to tell? Or should the low weight be a good indicator of material used?
Thanks.

magnet will tell if it's ferrous or not.

Without knowing the exact Alu or Cro-Mo it's going to be impossible to tell by weight alone. Lugs and age are usually an indicator that it's steel, and often Aluminum will sound different when you tap it but niether are very definitive.
Give us a picture, serial number, age, more details...found a business listing for Paconi Racing Frames, maybe give them a call and ask.

I tried the magnet method as suggested in a previous quote and I suspect that the frame is steel (cromo) as the magnet stuck to it. I also tapped the frame, and it did sound a bit like aluminium (a sort of flat sound, whereas steel makes a higher tone when tapped)

If I find that it is aluminium I will sell it, as I only ride steel..
