    what equivalent gear are bmx,chopper bikes,etc.

    Would it about 5th gear? like a 5 on the pedals and 1 on the back wheel?

    Oh. That was my interpretation of the question, but the 5 was kind of off putting

    Go Here, it's Sheldon Brown's glossary, and look up gear inches. Gears are not described by a single number. The size of the front sprocket, the rear cog, and the crank length all effect the "size" of the gear, and will be different on almost all bikes.
