Bernie from Panter City Bicycles running for Fort Worth City Council-District 9

I got this email today. Those that know Bernie, know he is a great guy and is passionate about bicycling and Fort Worth. Those who don't know Bernie..should stop by his store and meet him.

Hello everyone!

Many of you are receiving this email because you love bicycling and/or
Fort Worth. All of you are getting this because you are my friends.

I announced earlier this year that I'm running for the District 9 seat
on the Fort Worth City Council. I'm inspired to do this because I want
to see Fort Worth maintain its unique character, even as it grows so
rapidly.

Lots of you are familiar with my campaign already, so I'll keep the
description of it brief. My platform is strong on issues important to
bicyclists, light rail, and historic preservation. If you'd like to learn
more about where I stand on the issues, visit the campaign website:
www.iheartfw.com .

This message is to ask for help from each and every one of you. I'm
facing an entrenched opponent with a formidable campaign fund. She already
has over $12000, and I expect more contributions to be reported
Wednesday.

Here's the good news: I can beat her with half that, and that's where
you all come in. Please considering donating to my campaign fund. You
don't have to give a huge sum to make an impact, either. Just $10 can buy
3 yard signs, mail 50 postcards, or place 100 phone calls. My next big
expense will be printed campaign materials, including at least one
hundred yard signs. I need to place this order as soon as possible.

Donations can be made at the campaign website (iheartfw.com) via Paypal
(Visa, MC, e-check), or checks/money orders can be mailed to: The
Bernie Scheffler Campaign Fund, 1306 W Magnolia Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104.
They can also be dropped off in person at that address.

Thank you so much for your support! I look forward to working with you
all to improve our city!

-Bernie Scheffler
District 9 Council Candidate

Sorry, but this would not be a not-for-profit, or charitable event. Politics are kinda icky too. I'm moving this to General while we figure out what to do with it.

ok. Just don't delete it. And let me know where it gets moved. I didn't see a title for "Icky Sticky Politics", but I have seen things posted for new laws being passed and cyclist getting killed. I guess what I found interesting was it was a Cyclist that owns a LBS running for office and wanting to increase biking facilities for cyclists.

I'm all for a cyclist holding office. It just doesn't belong with the charity events. I've out it in General for now, and I suggest you put a link to it in your sig, and go crazy in A&S.
