I'd been riding my 27 year old Schwinn ten speed for, well, 27 years (bike paths and some gravel road), and decided it was time to reward myself with a new hybrid bike. I'm obviously new at bike shopping, and know nothing about bikes, so I did some research, read reviews, and visited my local bike shop dealer. I ended up with what I thought was a 2007 Kona Dr. Dew. The dealer wanted me to go into a higher-priced Scott sub10, but the ride was too stiff for me and the price was about $350 more than the Kona.
When I got my new bike home, I started nosing around it and on the internet some more, and found that according to the kona website the dr. dew comes ONLY in green. It's the Kona fs that comes in brown. However, my bike is brown but has "dr. dew" on it. Upon even closer inspection I also found that the components are those of the fs, according to the Kona website.
I'm not unhappy with the bike, and I paid what appears to be the dew fs price ($699) rather than the dr. dew price ($999), so I'm not feeling ripped off. However, I am curious about how a Kona fs that supposedly comes only in brown can be had with the brown frame that says "dr. dew." As I said, I'm a newbie, so I apologize if this is a foolsih question.
